Nanjing 1.35 million vehicles

A few days ago, the Nanjing City Intelligent Transportation Co., Ltd., Tsinghua University, and Nankai University jointly developed the "City Vehicle Exhaust Emissions Calculation Project" led by the Nanjing Motor Vehicle Discharge Supervision Center and achieved initial results. Academician Hao Jiming of the Chinese Academy of Engineering stated that this is the first method in the world that can accurately calculate the total amount of exhaust emissions from urban motor vehicles. By the end of this year, Nanjing residents could use mobile phones to check the "exhaust index" of each road in Nanjing.

Road monitoring probe collects data through automotive environmental electronics card

Most car front windshields have an eco-friendly electronic card. Yuan Feng, deputy general manager of Nanjing City Intelligent Transportation Co., Ltd. introduced that the environmental protection electronic card is also called RFID vehicle smart card. Information such as the vehicle's displacement, mileage, and exhaust emission data collected during each environmental protection annual inspection can be queried by smart card. So far, Nanjing has maintained 1.5 million vehicles, of which 1.35 million have "electronic ID cards." Surveillance probes on the streets of Nanjing have been given a new function in addition to capturing violations—calculating the 1.35 million vehicles' contribution to urban haze.

When the car is driving on the road, hundreds of high-definition probes in the city begin to work. After collecting information on the status of the vehicles, they are transmitted to the Intelligent Data Transmission Company's backstage big data analysis center. The real-time exhaust emissions of a vehicle can be calculated. At the same time, the exhaust emissions of all vehicles passing through a certain road section add up to the total vehicle exhaust emissions of that road section. The exhaust emissions of more than 3,000 urban roads in Nanjing can be accurately calculated. Academician Hao Jiming of the Chinese Academy of Engineering stated that this is the world’s first method to accurately calculate the total amount of motor vehicle exhaust emissions in the city.
