According to the China Securities Journal reported on January 14, Zhou Wangjun, deputy director of the Price Department of the National Development and Reform Commission, said that if the pressure on domestic prices in the first quarter is too large, new regulatory measures will not be ruled out. Zhou Wangjun said that due to increased consumption and reduced production during the Spring Festival, the price index was relatively low in the same period last year. Due to the hikes, the upward pressure on prices in the first quarter of this year is still relatively large. In the long run, the prices of international import inflation, domestic labor, land prices and other factors continue to rise, making prices still face certain upward pressure.
As for what measures will be taken to stabilize prices in the future, Zhou Wangjun did not make it clear. However, relevant persons close to the National Development and Reform Commission said that the NDRC has become more and more cautious about using administrative means.
