China's plastics network talks about the current situation of polyethylene

China's polyethylene industry has continued to develop in recent years. As of 2011, the annual production capacity of the plant reached 10.82 million tons. During the 12th Five-Year Plan period, Fushun Petrochemical, Wuhan Ethylene, Sichuan Refining and Chemical, Daqing Petrochemical and other devices were put into operation. By the end of the 12th Five-Year Plan, the production capacity of polyethylene will reach 16.67 million tons. From the data in 2011, the output of the polyethylene country is 10.152 million tons, and the apparent demand is 17.272.7 million tons. It can be seen that the domestic polyethylene still has more than 7 million tons of gaps and has to rely on imports. Therefore, imported products occupy an important proportion of China's polyethylene market with its relatively high performance and cost advantages. However, with the expansion of domestic production capacity and the diversification of olefin raw materials during the 12th Five-Year Plan period, the self-sufficiency rate of polyethylene in China will be greatly increased, and the dependence on foreign countries will gradually decrease.
On the demand side, as a plastic film in the main consumption field of polyethylene, because it is mostly used in terminal consumption and transportation, its demand growth has a great relationship with the development of the overall domestic economic situation, basically maintaining a slightly higher growth than domestic GDP. Its growth momentum is stable and there is demand rigidity. From the statistics of flexible packaging film production, the average increase rate of 13% since 2006 also confirms the steady growth of plastic film. Another important consumer area of ​​polyethylene is plastic pipe, and its output has also increased with the pace of urbanization in China and the increase in the implementation of municipal pipeline construction projects. In the next few years, municipal water supply and drainage, gas pipelines, and urban underground power, communication sheathed pipelines and other municipal plastic pipes will continue to be the focus of development in recent years.
