During the Intersolar show in North America from July 12 to 14, 2011, FlowRel Electronic Materials of the United States introduced two new backside conductive silver pastes: PPS2130 and PS2131 backside silver pastes, which maintain the same adhesion as existing products. In the case of solderability and field reliability, the cost per watt of crystalline silicon solar cells can be reduced while keeping the key performance indicators unchanged.
In recent years, Flowtronics has been at the leading position in the supply of slurry for silicon solar cells. It is reported that the two new products launched by Flow International in the United States are pure silver pastes that can be quickly printed at a speed of 200mm/sec. They have good compatibility with the backside aluminum paste and the cofired window is very wide. On the other hand, they are able to form very good adhesion with silicon wafers, have a robust solderability, and passed the test of component testing. The certification indicates that Flow's PS2130 and PS2131 pastes are RoHS and REACH compliant, lead free, cadmium free, and benzene free.
It is understood that the designed sintered thicknesses of Flow PS2130 and PS2131 are 5-7 micron and 4-6 micron, respectively, which are calculated according to the current cost of silver and the factory with an annual production capacity of 500 megawatts of solar silicon cells. Compared to lead-conserving conductive silver paste, using these new pastes can save 5 million US dollars per year for solar cell factories.
"The new product will reduce the cost of ownership by simultaneously reducing precious metal content and printing consumption, and will increase the competitive advantage of solar energy costs," said Todd Williams, business manager of Flow Materials, America. "The PS2130 and PS2131 reduce costs while maintaining the excellent mechanical properties of previous products."
