The use of flame retardant as a necessary aid for the safe use of polymer materials is no exception. Therefore, the development of bio-derived flame retardants has also become the focus of attention. However, natural raw materials often have many disadvantages, such as poor heat resistance and low flame-retardant efficiency, which hinders their use as excellent flame retardants. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out a reasonable chemical modification, giving it excellent thermal decomposition properties and overcoming its problems as a flame retardant.

The Fine Phosphorus Chemical Engineering Team of the Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, embeds nucleotide molecules into the structure of melamine-formaldehyde resin to form microspheres with flame-retardant function based on the mechanism of action of the intumescent flame retardant; The active group itself is shielded, the heat resistance is improved, and a good flame retardant effect is obtained in the intumescent flame retardant polypropylene (PP). Adding only 1 wt% microspheres can reduce the amount of flame retardant by more than 30%. .
