The Ministry of Commerce said in a statement that in response to complaints from DAK America, M&G Chemical, etc., the US decided to launch a "double-reverse" investigation on PET resin products from China, India and Oman, and initiated anti-dumping on PET resin products from Canada. The survey, in which the Chinese company was initially identified, the dumping margin was 193.48% to 206.42%, and the subsidy range was not less than 2%.
The PET resin products investigated this time are mainly used in the production of beverage bottles, food containers, and packaging materials for household chemicals, cosmetics, automotive and pharmaceutical industries. According to data released by the US Department of Commerce, the total imports of products from Canada, China, India, and Oman in 2014 were $239 million, $92.1 million, $51.7 million, and $51.1 million, respectively.
Under the US trade remedy procedure, the US International Trade Commission will make a preliminary ruling on the investigation around April 25. If the committee decides that such products imported from China cause substantial damage to the relevant industries in the United States, the US Department of Commerce will continue to conduct "double-reverse" investigations.
