Improvement of heat treatment process for large 45 steel connecting rod

The 45 steel medium speed marine diesel engine connecting rod produced by our factory has a shaft section of φ90mm and a forging weight of 145kg. It is the heaviest connecting rod produced by our factory. After heat treatment, it is sampled and tested at 1/2R of φ90mm shaft section when tested by China Classification Society (CCS). Its performance requirements are: σb≥600MPa; σs≥300MPa; δ5≥16%; φ≥40%; AKU5 ≥ 20J; hardness: 162-217HBS.
